Initial Return- Ontario Corporation

If you have incorporated in Ontario you are required to file a Form 1 Initial Return within the first 60 days.

Corporations must complete and submit an Initial Return to the Ontario Ministry within 60 days after the date of incorporation. This form establishes/confirms the company head office, directors/officers of the corporation. We can file this form electronically so that you know with certainty that it has been processed. Should you require a copy of this filing you should select the Corporate Profile Report along with the Initial Return from our menu below.

Trade names can be registered to existing corporations. Once you register the trade name you will be allowed to do business under the name.

If your company intends to operate under a name other than its legal corporate name, then you must register this name under the Business Names Act.

For example, if your corporate name is ABC Ltd. and you wish to open a restaurant called ABC Diner, then the latter name must be registered.

Your trade name cannot include any legal elements, such as Inc., Limited, Corp., etc.
